Have seen ads for a couple of Celicasupras for breaking lately and I was thinking of trying to get an auto rear end as I think they have a lower ratio
If I can remember I have a 3.73 diff would an auto diff make much of a difference in the way of acceleration and did they come in LSD or can I build a new diff from an auto, my diff and my weir stuff

You will hardly notice it on the top end. I Got an Auto in Mine now, after i broke the manual one at DWYB It's actually much better to drive now, A bit more eager from standstill and the Auto diffs are Always less worn than the Manuals as the auto box will change up when the revs get too high. My Advice Buy as many as you can!

I agree with Niel on this one I put an auto diff in mine and it opened up 3rd gear drifts to me. The only downside is it realy messes up the speedo. In all fairness I ran 185 60s on the back but to do 70 the speedo was reading 90 and it would go off the clock (mine was an early analogue dash) but that meant the standard 5m was doing 160+ I think not

-What Neil and Matt said, and heres what else I can add: I used to have a stack off diffs, sold them all to a lotus breaker when I went S13 (DUH) makes the car feel a lot more 'alive', but yes, I had 152mph showing on the digi dash with an auto diff (chasing JD in his mazda 323 turbo and a randomer in an escort cosworth on the way to silverstone years ago) 152 from a mostly stock 5M-GE hahaha! They are not an accurate speedo anyway, but damn. The yanks go the other way and try to get the tallest ratio possible for some reason. Manual is something like a 3.73 and auto a 4.1. Hang on a sec... www.celica-gts.com/resources/differential_codes.htmlwww.toysport.com/technical%20information/toyota%20differentials%20identifications.htmI could almost remember the codes but not quite. F303 standard manual diff F293 standard auto diff I want an auto diff for mine, but I think the only place I will get one now is buying a complete car or paying an irish breaker cocaine money. There are shitloads of ratios available if you know what to look for, as well as the obvious ones A6x celica MX73 cressida IS200 etc. some hiace and 2wd hilux use the same ring and pinion, and tacoma, 4runner (hilux to us) etc trucks use them in the front, ratios apparently available from 3.4 ish to 4.3 and above, although I think 4.1 is great, I'd like to try 4.3. On a side note, Also I remembered something about using a kaaz or trd 2 way diff from the IS200 but needing shorter shafts, apparently this is only if you are going into an open diff, and the lsd output shafts work fine, dug up this: www.celicasupra.com/forums/showthread.php?60910-Swapping-an-kaaz-2-way-lsd-for-an-is200-into-a-non-lsd-mk2-supraneed different bearing sets, apart from that happy days. Dunno how the weir kits drive, might be a big waste of money buying a 2 way!
