Ok, i best come clean

Although i've set up a forum for all things Toyota, i'm secretly also a BMW fan, namely all things pre 1991.
The shark nose era of cars has had a particular effect on me, My dad used to have all manner of 5 and 6 series bmws and the 635csi is one car i just can't go through life without owning

So, although the supra will remain in my possesion till it's nothing but rot, I will be saving my pennies through 2012 to get a good rolling shell, (if not car) and start a new build .
Paint will either be a deep black, or madeira violet.
Mike burroughs E24 six is a huge inspiration!








So, onto the plan..

I want to build a decent drift car as well as a Good looking road car, so junking the troublesome M30 3.5 litre engine and fitting in it's place a 4.4litre V8 from the 540/840 cars.
6 speed manual gearbox comes with these engines, but they are quite rare in the 840ci, so will see about what boxes will fit and take the torque.

Suspension is a mcphereson set up at the front, and a strut tube design, so can make some generic Nissan/ toyota coilovers fit on the front . Rear is a similar design.

Anti roll bars and bushes will be upgraded, and everything that's not needed will be either removed or replaced with lighter materials. So light bucket seats/ a dashboard and door cards are likely to remain. May even have a go at some fibreglass panels

Diff will be upgraded, but might have to bite the bullet and buy a KAAZ 2 way as modified bmw units are not cheap.

So, hoping 2012 is a prosperous year so i can get the shark!

oooh you traitor haha. not into beemers really but to be fair to you i always lusted over an old shark nose 7 series (i think) that lived on a mates dads driveway untouched for years. i wonder what happened to it... it was well pointy, i love a good pointy car. that, the m6 and the 850i i do like. those 840's and 850's hold they're value though which is a shame always fancied skidding a manual one...

Totally with you on the pointy car thing! ;D Cars struggle to look menacing these days with their round bodies.
And 8 series are lovely, bloody heavy, but such a cool looking design thats not too dissimilar to celica supra's from the front!
And, any car with pop up light's is cool as fuck really

Same as you, love the old beemers, espectially the 635CSI. There is a guy ion Swindon who has a lefty Alpina in black, I drool and start talking jibberish when I see it!

Some other stuff around the same period for me are, Opel Monza 3ltr GSE, the Merc 190 Cosworth and the original 2 door Sierra 500 Cosworth. ;D

Dude, i feel ya. I love the pre 90's beamers as well. Hell, even some of the mid 90's 3 series cars look pretty hot in my book. I would love to get my hands on one and do the whole deep dish, stretch tires look. That would be hot.

Err, got another guilty secret and I hate to say it's a Vauxhall from the mid-late 80's. Always had a bit of a thing for the Carlton, the 1 that's the same shape as a Lotus Carlton, dunno why, just think they are a menacing looking car.................wonder if it's got anything to do with the fact the Durham Constabulary always used to chase me on my bike in them??
