i have put the wiring down for now, i have been sorting a few other things out instead. oil filter wont fit, im gonna chop the stock cooler off and weld some an-10 fittings to the ali casting to run a remote filter and cooler kit. prop has been re-tubed and balanced. i have cut the shifter casting from a mk3 supra and extended it by 50mm along with the extension in the box so now the shifter should line up properly. today i started on the drivers exhaust manifold. getting the ugly one out of the way first. i got some flanges laser cut and am making the manifolds in pieces to get them in and out easier. there aint much room there but its coming along. will upload pics soon.

Sounds like its coming along dude. Its good when there are a few things to do so when you've had enough of one just move onto something else. I'm gonna have the same trouble as you with the manifolds was looking at some from america but they've all got left hookers. What guage stainless you gonna use fo the flanges I was thinkin 8mm. Are you gonna balance the system I think I'm going to try to do mine but its a case of how much space there is to weave the pipes around. Have yet to get the lump into mine.

cheers for the offer on the flanges dude I'm going 2j in mine got a mate who does profile cutting and acess to radan so can draw it out on there. I'll have to see if i an time it when he's got a job on that he can nest my parts in (sneeky sneeky). Did you make each fange individual as i'm gonna try to mark off a gasket and have 2 sets of three for mine. Or maybee one set of six that way it'll help to jig it so it doesn't pull when welding. Stainless moves around like a bastard.
Some more questions. Do you think you will need to have the mating faces of the flanges skimmed before instalation? What guage tube you using? have you bought the necesary bends and chopping them together or bending it yourself? Are you using wire on the butt welds or just fusing?
Does the chaser have a front mounted rack like the ma70 supra. The ma61 has the rack behind the crossmember so hopefully should have a bit more room.

the flanges are individual, the reason i did it this way is so i dont need to get them re-faced when im done welding them. also the mani needs to thread through the column and stuff in bits as i cant get it in complete.... a single 1 piece flange will be a bitch to keep flat your better of doing it in a pair or 3 parts like you said.. im using 18swg tube, i pulled a load of random bends out of a box at work and im just chopping them to fit and butt welding the pieces together, using 1.2mm wire. the rack is mounted behind the x-member nearer the firewall so it gets right in the way.

Have just seen a DW thread with someone putting the uz into an ae86 they've had custom manifold I see why you've done them individualy as the ports on the head aren't in line. can't do mine individualy as the ports share studs.
With the rack possition I guess its swings and roundabouts if the rack were at the front of the crossmember then you'd have more colum to get past. Plus having the rack at the rear is better for the handling. Tends toward oversteer at the back of the front axle line and understeer if its mounted infront.

drivers side mani is done need to turn the car to work on the other side but all my jacks packed up so got fed up and did other stuff. drivers header; i still have not managed to sort a clutch release set up. spent so much cash and gotten no where. can anyone suggest a way of doing this thats quick and easy? i have had every clutch fork from w58 supras, and none have been right, the slave cylinder i bought is no where near and the bearing is about 20mm too far from the clutch fingers with the bits i have. i heard howe or quartermaster units are often used but dont know where to get them in the uk or how to install and set them up. any tips would be appreciated. on a lighter note i had a nissan 200sx alloy rad i never used in the unit, modded it to fit the gx81 and it fits lovely. mock fitted the rad with oil cooler and looking good for space and pretty neat in there too. moved bottom lugs in a bit to line up with rad xmember to here then i cut out the smaller inlet and outlet pipes and welded in some larger diameter ali tube i had to suit the ls400 stock rad hoses. small o/d bigger o/d boom!

Boom indeed! Those manifolds are a work of art! Damn good work shifty,That re fabbed oil cooler looks pretty smart too. Chopping off the bulk is where is at. I will have a search around for which clutch fork to use, but it's baffling why the mk2 and 3 ones are way out of alignment. This guy used alot of diesel parts from hilux surfs ect. wiki. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_KD_enginewww.ksracing.net/forums/index.php?topic=7546.0
