Right then appologies in order: have recieved a message from the bloke about my bushes he has claimed off the post office for not delivering the first set and has sent me replacements which should be with me in a couple of days. Maybe he's a member on here. So all being well I'm chuffed. He does seem like a pretty genuine guy just took a few days to reply and seen as I purchased the bushes in march I was starting to get a bit pissy. Its a good job that they are for a project car if it was a daily it would have been a nightmare.

Right then I'm now a dad so that has taken up a considerable amount of my free time but you can all rest easy as I'm still managing to find time to work on the car. And the ratchet is set to tighten Was umming and ahhing over how to finish the underside of the car and have decided on stone chip and 2k White paint. The finish isn't the best but I did have to spray it from about 3 cm away as I don't have the luxury of a rollover jig. The best bit is I first tried to use a gravity feed gun and ended up with about £15 worth of paint on my face ( dickhead). Anyway I've made a concious decision not to fruitlessly seek perfection I don't have the skill or the patience. The front crossmember and suspension is all fitted and I've got all the rear subframe and arms fitted. The polybushes all fit bang on. Was a bit concerned about the subframe bushes. But they've gone on mint. And they all still fit so I haven't twisted the shell to much with all my porta powering of the cage. I've also stripped cleaned and painted the rear callipers but am after a set of shoes as the ones I've got aren't worth putting back in. Any suggestions as to where I can get them preferably not Toyota or America unless I have to. Anyhow that's about it for now I will get some pics at some point but all the stuff I've been doing is pretty boring so far. Still it will be on it's wheels soon then the engine can go in. ;D

I ended up getting mine from Toyota, got a set from ebay that 'allegedly' fitted but they were about 3-4mm too big, so ended up ordering them from my local dealer, expensive but took 5 mins to fit

Think you may be right about getting the parts from toyota. Have seen some brembo rear disks on ebay for around £100 tempted.
Right then its been a while having a kid does tend to infringe on my free time. I have however been doing some bits to the car. Have got the o/s rear pockrt welded up and now concentratating on the n/s bought a new angle grinder so ended up cutting the spare wheel well out just cuz i felt the need to use my new toy so thats a new hole to fill. Have got it all seam welded now and it will soon be on its wheels then i can get cracking on the engine. Thats about it though.
Also kudos to niel getting his car in novembers retro cars there's a snap of it going up the hill at prescott hill climb; looks ace dude.

The best bit is I first tried to use a gravity feed gun and ended up with about £15 worth of paint on my face Mate I'm sorry this made me laugh pretty hard! At least that £15 went to a good cause - it brightened up my day if not the underside of the car. Anyway I've made a concious decision not to fruitlessly seek perfection I don't have the skill or the patience. I need to accept this fact as well or I will only ever be a jap and old ford breakers that runs at a loss Still it will be on it's wheels soon then the engine can go in. ;D Funny you say that, I dug out my JZA80 2JZ-GE manual ECU and loom for ya literally last week. Get cracking with that engine dude as I'm gonna start splitting and labelling up the loom ready for it to be lay in the car and grafted but its best done with the engine in so you can get all the lengths bang on so it looks tidy and factory. I'll give you a bell tonight anyhoo as I have just put £20 credit on my phone sick of not being able to call people back when I have a missed call!

Nice to see the forums been growing nicely some good builds on here now dude with people who actualy do stuff unlikemyself It gets alot easier (fatherhood) the older they get, between me and the missus, we have 5 children and at times, it's like living in hell haha, but most of the time it's great, my little boy is just coming up to his first Birthday next month, he's a little terror and has the biggest set of lungs in the world, I certainly get an ear full in the morning when he wakes up So I know what you're going through matey, it's hard juggling finances between family and car, I've pretty much resigned to the fact that I'm just gonna have to plod on and find the money where I can to get mine running atleast. Not too far away now though

Cheers dude not only do I need you to build my car but also to document its progress. I'm feeling somewhat redundant. Just like at home. On a side note you say you've removed the speed sensitive PAS cus I'm pretty sure the mk2s have this all be it a very basic one where it just switches off after a certain speed. Will I need to use the pump of the 5m and fab a mount or reroute the pipes onto the 2j pump. Preferably the later if the unions are the same. Although I am very keen not to alter the steering feel as it my favourite thing about the car.

Touchdown its on wheels yey had to do it on my own which was pretty scary just watching the razor sharp pocket edges coming toward my face whilst underneath the car with a jack, praying its gotta stop soon there's no weight in it, its gotta stop soon. Fortunately it did and I'm still here. Just waitin on my mate with a p100 to take my engine down so I can get the sumps swapped over then fab up some mounts have got some nice 10mm ally that I acquired so will get some cut will probably do a couple of sets and some spacers for the Nissan brake conversion which as luck would have it need to be 10mm so game on.

Good going. MA61 uses vacuum from the engine to alter the power steering pressure at the pump JZA80 uses electrical. easiest option run the 2JZ PAS pump and do away with the speed variable steering. its meant to get stiffer (less assistance) at high rpm. good for motorway driving but not much cop for drifting where RPM vs. speed will vary wildly! TBH I have blanked it in the past on the MA61 and nor noticed a difference. Never really noticed it at all on the JZA80, so never messed with it.
