Hey guys, I'm in need of a AFM for a 7mgte as I know the new car im picking up next weekend is in need of one.
From what I understand, the ls400 afm is compatible and classed as an upgrade? Can anyone shed some light on this, and if any modifications are required or is it a simple plug and play?
I'm also in need of a turbo, CT-26 or maybe an upgrade depending on price.
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks, Gaz

Ahhh yes Martyn's car is the car I'm buying I didn't notice the turbo thread he put up, I'm very tempted at £400. Seems awfully cheap considering. Ive certainly noticed there aren't many standard afm's about for sale so I may be forced to go with the ls400 regardless.

Do the 550's need to be specifically from a mk4 2j? Or can I just pick up some compatible 550's for the 7m?

Looks like I'm also gonna need to look for an exhaust system, can anyone recommend how I go about this? I'm guessing it won't be as straight forward as bolting a mk3 exhaust system on there or will it?

It's not as simple as bolting on a mk3 Exhaust, but if you have the turbo down pipe then you can make good use of the flange if your going to use the CT26. The most important part of the system is having it as straight and free flowing as poss. Due to the Turbo supplying the back pressure you don't want any real restrictions so 3" all the way through would be the way to go. However you do it, special consideration is needed for Clearance around the steering column as it's a pretty close fit and can foul. Material choice is up to you really. Some mild 3" Mild steel tubing will happily do the job for a custom fabricated system, but if you want it to last forever and be a proper exhaust them 321 stainless is the way to go, as unlike 304 it contains a bit of Ti in there so it gets stronger with Heat Cycles a bit like a SR71 blackbird! I'd put a few flexi pipes in there just to save it from working loose. Kiff just got his full system made at infinity exhausts in Bristol, and is very happy with the results. www.infinity-exhausts.co.uk/

Thanks for the advice Neil, I really appreciate it. This is my first real project car and it feels like it's going to be a long process getting it to where I want it to be.
If I have to go with custom made system, I might have to find somewhere more local or get it measured up somehow as Bristol is a bit far to go unless I manage to get hold of a trailer lol
