Just bought my 7th MA61 off ebay, this is project car number 4 and the only one that has an engine and gearbox currently fitted. The others (MK4 Supra, 3dr sierra, R32 Skyline) started as working cars... I went the other way with this one, start with something already half stripped and in bits and then the only way is up... Anyway, enough waffle about my motivational and monetary shortcomings, heres some pictures shamelessly ripped from the ebay listing until I get busy with the camera...
...Welding is good enough, I can see through the B pillar vents that he has actually cut out all the old rust and done anice enough job, I just have to finish it.
Funnily enough I didn't get the spare alloy wheel pictured here when the
car arrived, I just realised this posting these pictures haha. I Can't be arsed to get shitty with the guy though, these wheels aren't gold dust yet. I did get the 2 rusty fucked front wing that he said he didn't have in the listing though...
Overall for £262 plus £180 'postage' (my mates went and fetched it with his recovery truck) I'm pretty pleased with it.
At the moment I'm just going to get it tidy and on the road. No big plans, no engine conversions, bone stock unless something absolutely needs replacing.
First up is the last couple of bits of welding (hopefully i wont find much more, but I'm not holding my breath) and get a fuel tank/sender/pump etc. (it came without these and the rubber fuel lines to the tank have been cut)
It could also do with tension rod bushes (I might just get AE86 pillowball complete rods if I can confirm they definitely fit)
Discs and pads all round have pretty much had it where it has been standing, would like some decent aftermarket but if Kerry can get some new old stock from her work cheap I'll go with those for now. I also need 2 front caliper bolts that are missing? I might replace some brake lines while I'm at it, there is some MOT failing corrosion and hell I do enough brake lines at work.
-Part of the loom is burnt from the welding, no biggie, I can find the plug I need and Fix that pretty easy.
-Clutch fluid needs bleeding, its gammy as hell, FWIW i'll probably have the master and slave cyls apart when I do this and clean them and replace seals if necessary. Almost every manual supra I have had has benefited from this treatment.
-Apart from that its the obvious bodywork and refit, the guys at work have agreed to do the bodywork and a full respray real cheap if i strip anything they need and refit it myself. I have seen thier work on our sales and customer cars and its great, I don't mind spraying but they will do a better job than me and I fucking hate prep and am crap at it. Next time the dent guy comes round I'll get him to take the dent out of the right rear quarter.
I'll update this with some pics next week sometime, and a progress report if any is made haha...
